Bespoke cakes are usually a mystery until you ask. We'd rather you knew what to expect, so here is what everything starts at — checked against other bakers across Tameside and Greater Manchester, and set deliberately below them.

What changes the price

Included in every price

Fresh baking to order, your choice of flavour and filling, a smooth buttercream finish, colour matching, a simple message or topper, and boxing ready to collect.

Quoted on top

Fondant covering, hand-piped florals, sculpted or modelled figures, printed images, gold leaf, fresh flowers, stand hire, and anything that takes a full extra day.

Why are these prices lower than other bakers?

Bakelyne is a home bakery, not a shop — no rent, no counter staff, no display fridges to fill. That saving goes into the price rather than the overheads, which is why a 6" cake here starts around a fifth below the local going rate.

Is the price I see the price I pay?

It's the starting point for that size in a simple finish. Once you've told us the design, you get one written quote with a single total — no surprises added later.

Do you take a deposit?

Yes — a 25% deposit confirms your date in the diary, and the balance is due when you collect. It comes off your total rather than being added to it.

How much notice do you need?

Two to three weeks is comfortable for celebration cakes, and wedding cakes deserve a couple of months. Last-minute is sometimes possible — just ask, it costs nothing to ask.

Is there a minimum order?

Only on the small things: six cupcakes, six macarons and six biscuits. Cakes have no minimum — a bento cake for two is a perfectly good order.

Do you deliver?

We don't deliver — every order is collected from Ashton-under-Lyne (OL6), at a time we agree when you order. Everything is boxed and packed so it travels home safely.
